The Franek Family Legacy
Racing Roots
Ed Franek’s passion for drag racing ignited during his high school days at Firebird Raceway. However, life took a turn as he paused his racing dreams to start a family. In 1995, the Franek family rekindled their trackside adventures. Ed, alongside his wife Kelly, and their three young children, embraced the raceway lifestyle, camping out in a tent with a fan powered by a generator to beat the heat. The family’s first race car, a classic 1956 Bel Air, became more than just a vehicle—it symbolized the beginning of a lifelong journey.
Through the years, the Franek children grew up with the rumble of engines and the thrill of speed, inheriting their parents’ passion. Today, they, along with their own children, remain integral members of the team, continuing to race and inspire the next generation.
Despite Kelly’s passing in 2017, her spirit and love for the sport live on at the racetrack. Racing has become more than just a hobby for the Franeks; it’s a tribute to their beloved matriarch and a cherished family legacy that keeps their wheels spinning and hearts racing.
Kelly’s presence at the track was a warm, nurturing energy that boosted everyone’s morale. She had a wonderful way of making everyone feel cared for, from the family members to the fellow racers. Her enthusiasm for the sport and her family left an indelible mark, as she cheered from the sidelines, often the first to celebrate their victories and offer consolation in tough times.
